I own Hitchiker's Guide, but I have yet to read it. Therefore, I am a sad geek who doesn't get the reference.

However, I liked the link the shirt designer put in the blog/twitter-like comments.

Eileen has been posting b-day cakes for folks, and it inspired me to go on a curious search for steampunk cakes. I found a few I really like, so I'll just link them instead of inserting full picture images.

So many cakes, so little space )

The Aubin Trophy would make an excellent cake reproduction - Up close look at the locks and keys, and Charles Aubin's and the trophy's history

I stumbled upon this image, and now I want a full blown poster of it for my wall. Additional link for reference to the artist.

xkcd cake!

This cake has inspired me to go on a Giger cake hunt, which I am sorely resisting right about now.

Okay, I couldn't resist, but the Giger cake search was disappointing. On the other hand, I found Giger-inspired purses that makes me think a Giger-inspired messenger bag would be pretty nifty to have.

Might be NSFW as there is lingerie.

So many pretties.

Best Buy is selling Burlesque with a free corset. I know corsets well enough to know this "alluring" one will probably be a bunch of crap, and I also know corsets are NOT one-size-fits-all. I'm assuming that it would be a coupon of some sort, but the entire concept has me going WTF?

O_o

Yes, I'm an 80's dork that actually misses the whole leg warmers trend. I loved leg warmers. I loved that it was acceptable at one point to wear leg warmers over your Guess* jeans so as to keep your calves warm stay on top of the latest trends.

That being said, I'm a bit torn by the latest partial bondage pants with garter suspenders.

*I never owned a pair of Guess jeans. My parents never got behind the whole $100 for a pair of pants that we could get for $20 at Target. This frustrated me growing up, but I totally agree with it today.

I really have a lot of Woot shirts already. But, how on Earth could I possibly resist this one?

I sent this info over to [livejournal.com profile] disgruntledgrrl and then realized that I should share this with the rest of my friends. Apparently this designer is world-renowned, but as I am not much into designer clothing, I am a Jovani virgin that now wants to have this designer's babies.

Seriously - I ran out of drool.
Look at the Couture and Evening Dresses links
Heck, even the prom dress link was nothing like I expected.

For some reason, despite the so amazingly OMG of all those BEAUTIFUL dresses, this one popped out and spoke to me the most.

Here's another designer I just now found that seems to take a lot of inspiration from the 20's flapper dress, and even Grecian dress.

Also - I would love to wear this to The Church just to blind everyone.

I've decided that I'm going to buy a sewing machine. And some thread and cloth. I'm going to teach myself how to sew with a sewing machine. I only have one project on the table, and that's to create a pouch for my wireless keyboard and mouse. I use them, but not often enough to prevent them from getting absolutely covered in dust. Besides, I really should finally learn how to sew.

This will be fun.

Also on the agenda for tomorrow: Un-box the new Dyson Ball and put it to the test

Dust my room
Clean my bathroom, which is absolutely atrocious
Write up a how-to document for quick reference on creating DVDs

Hopefully I'll be able to fit some more stuff into my day, but I think that's a good start for a to-do list. I'm feeling peppy and restless and want to get off my duff and start doing some things.

I blame this good feeling on how things at work are going. I'm starting to feel like I have a little breathing room. It's a small janitor's closet of breathing room still filled with the lingering smell of ammonia, but at least it's a start.

Also, I went shopping )

It all started with a search for a basic black velvet zippered coin pouch. I have one that I (used to) take with me to the clubs and is just the right size (4.5" x 3.5") to hold ID, debit card, some cash, lipstick, a lighter, and a spare car key. Everything I needed to get through a night at the club. The zipper on it has gotten off track, so for fun I figured I'd look around to see what I could search for before begging friends to take a stab at the zipper.

Yeah, I could still use help with the zipper if someone is able.

Anyway, I just felt like sharing the wonderful links I came across in the process.

Purses - made of various materials, but the ones made from recycled ties are awesome.

I was reminded of Chadwicks and got giddy with that black and white dress on the front page, only to be horribly disappointed that it is no longer available. Boooooo. I was just commenting yesterday that I don't have any good long-sleeved dresses that I can wear (to work, or in yesterday's case, a memorial).

I followed this link to see the little black and white pouch in the hopes that I could see other versions - look at those marvelous newsboy caps!

DIY pouch from ties project

Haunted Pouch - I don't get what appears to be the back of this pouch, but I love the front and inside.

So many pretty links

Black velvet knee highs - just not sure about the tops of them

I could cheat and get some form of a rosary pouch - or by that token a dice bag

For [livejournal.com profile] txtriffidranch and [livejournal.com profile] czarina69: Missy Mao Mao's garden

Electric Gravy Warmer that actually looks like a nice altered crock pot - at only 18oz though, it wouldn't be worth keeping warm around my family - the gravy would be gone in the first round of helpings

I still get quite a kick out of the toaster and egg poacher - I'm actually highly tempted to get one of these and stop going to McDonald's every few mornings

I love this ice crusher.

Well, actually, it's just a really nice Woot! Shirt today.

I like that this little article goes a long way to show how the female body comes in all different sizes, and why the runway model outfits don't always fly in the real world.

A real woman in...Victoria Beckham's dress

I just don't have the money for these 14k skull pendants, and I know PLENTY of people that could put them to excellent use.

Damnit. They're actually kinda cute, but I really can't stand kickerbockers, kulats, and capris. Yet somehow Helena manages to combine all three in a manner that I could really see becoming trendy once we weed out those that still think wearing house shoes in public is an ok thing. However, something like this really looks like shit to me.
