I sent this info over to
disgruntledgrrl and then realized that I should share this with the rest of my friends. Apparently this designer is world-renowned, but as I am not much into designer clothing, I am a Jovani virgin that now wants to have this designer's babies.
Seriously - I ran out of drool.
Look at the Couture and Evening Dresses links
Heck, even the prom dress link was nothing like I expected.
For some reason, despite the so amazingly OMG of all those BEAUTIFUL dresses, this one popped out and spoke to me the most.
Here's another designer I just now found that seems to take a lot of inspiration from the 20's flapper dress, and even Grecian dress.
Also - I would love to wear this to The Church just to blind everyone.

Date: 2010-05-02 06:36 am (UTC)I didn't see one - not even one - original idea.
Fuck me. It's the Quentin Tarantino of Fashion.
I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.

Date: 2010-05-02 03:49 pm (UTC)Almost all of the designers I have looked at in the past couple years are doing a lot of the same thing. (Here's another one (http://www.adriannapapell.com/) I just now found that seems to take a lot of inspiration from the 20's flapper dress, and even Grecian dress (http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/adrianna-papell-grecian-halter-gown).) There's nothing ingenious about today's styles and there's not a huge kick towards starting any new trends in style, but instead in reinventing old styles.
About the only thing I will remember the 90's and the 20-naught's for is capri pants, pants down below someone's butt, flip-flops, croc shoes, and, well, I can't think of any trends for hair. Everything else about the clothing and styles seem to just be putting forward a better foot from our predecessors. I for one find the styles quite beautiful, even if they are just new takes on older styles.
Heck, you could even say the same thing for the muscle cars getting all of their overhauled styles just recently. I think the next time we get into new trends, it's probably going to be such a big jump no one's going to know what hit them.
EDIT: Added another link above. Also - I would love to wear this (http://www.jovani.com/prom-dresses/strapless-yellow-black-gown-154007-6967) to The Church just to blind everyone.
