You can fool all of the people some of the time, but you can't fool yourself for a second.

I totally agree with this statement from the article Don't Manage Time, Manage Yourself.

Stuff Rant Is Long )

Hello, My name is Nikki, and I'm addicted to my Stuff.

So I just discovered GTDGmail which seems much better than Remember The Milk with regard to the functionality I'm looking for (specifically contexts and hierarchy projects). The only thing that RTM offers that GTDGmail doesn't is added date/calendar features which instantly utilize Google Calendar via email and task items.

The problem is, GTDGmail isn't fully compatible with the OMG wonderful looking Gmail Redesigned. There's a guy working on an extension to the extension, as it were, in order to make the two compatible. His screen shots seem to indicate that his workaround was for an older version of GTDGmail, so I'm curious as to how it looks with the new version.

Man, I really should learn how to program. Then I could create my dream scripts that would combine the functionalities of RTM and GTDGmail along with the style sheet of Redesigned.

I've picked out some digital voice recorders. I'm just linking them here both for possible input from the peanut gallery as well as for a convenient location for me to reference back to. I think you can tell sort of what I'm looking for. I'd like something that will fit in my purse easily and I'm still indesisive as to how much functionality I want on it, but I do have a $100 limit. So far, I haven't even used my Samsung 2GB MP3 player, and I've had it for about 2 years now, although I think with access to Pandora online and my OCD obsessiveness with getting all of our (the commune's) mp3s in order, I'm not surprised myself that I haven't gotten that bad boy set up yet.

I don't currently have any means of instant or planned video recording short of borrowing my mom's camcorder. However, I find that it's very rare that I ever get the urge to capture video to share with others. Still, the 6-in-1 camcorder does still look very nice.

I know, before you start preaching at me, that I could always get something like an iPhone (although I'd go for an iPod Touch before the iPhone) which would probably have all the functionality of these gadgets along with combined PDA apps, but I like having lots of various gadgets. Indulge me, damn it.

Credit card-sized voice recorder
Diablotek 1Gb 4-in-1
Olympus 64MB
12 minute
Mustek 6-in-1 Camcorder
Keo 4GB multimedia
Curtis 1GB
Colby 1GB
2GB credit card-sized video player

This is way out of my price range, but I still wanted to include a link to it:

EDIT:

Spinnaker room divider (the second pic is the best)

Cloud room divider - I remember back in junior high when we would walk into this tent that stayed up with simple air blowers and it was used as a traveling planetarium. I recall the instructor telling us that it was invented by students as a science fair project. That was cool and I really wanted one.

EDIT2: StarLab is the portable planetarium.

There is a Pandora app for the iPhone. This should be great news for someone with an iPhone (*eyes [livejournal.com profile] toxico and [livejournal.com profile] solitaire). However, click the link for "Download Pandora from the App Store Now" - go ahead, I'll wait.

Did it work? Well, congrats! That means you have iTunes installed. For the rest of us though, no iTunes on computer = no access. :-/

However, I'm still in gadget heaven:
iPod digital recorder adapter

There's a couple of vinyl-to-digital gadgets out there (ion's latest includes an iPod dock, but still no plastic cover for the apparatus, go figure), and a few options for VHS-to-digital. There's even a casette-to-digital I found, which has a disk docking option for your cpu case. I would totally be into the docking option, except they can't answer yes to the number one question I ask most often of anything that has electricity flowing through it: "Does it come in BLACK??" Hell, I'd even go for a gray-toned version, but not awful blue on white. However, the point to this long paragraph is to mention that ion now has a dedicated VHS-to-digital gadget that I would be most tempted to buy to convert my parents' ungodly number of VHS tapes. I like the fact that it bypasses the tv and goes straight to computer, unlike dual VHS/DVD-r combos, although it's still about the same cost as Sony's DVDirect - oh wait, there's an $80 Sony in that list. Nifty.

BTW, is anyone interested in purchasing their very own ultrasound?

GTD

I'm reluctantly and slowly going through the motions of implementing a Getting Things Done system at the recommendation of [livejournal.com profile] vadania. I've read through Part 1 of the GTD book and have started looking at products and programs available on the net. Many things are free or cheap or can easily be purchased at Office Depot or made out of cardboard boxes, but my eyes popped out of my skull when I saw the price for this little office desk tray set.
