The munchkin is doing well.

He's having to take walks every couple hours around the building and then force himself to sit in a chair for 30 minutes versus constantly lounging in the reclined bed. He's now starting to walk on his own, although he's still hooked up to IV meds that has to be pushed around with him. We take the wheel of the IV cart when he's walking on his own, and he tends to take it back as a slight crutch on his way back to his room. He's eating solids, although still in small portions and nothing remotely spicy, but if his white blood cell count is good, then he should be able to go home tomorrow.

Cook Children's Medical Center is set up like a spa retreat for the kids.

He's got a cart with a monitor and an Xbox along with the installed TV in the room (on which he was able to watch the Super Bowl), and one of his friends stopped by for a while this evening to play Xbox with him. He's got a few movies I and Little Bit brought in, my Monsters of Doctor Who book that I received for Christmas, and a Batman comic to read, and I've lent him my laptop with some games loaded on it. He's surrounded by a few stuffed animals: there's a really soft Build-A-Bear that he picked out (mom also got one for Little Bit at the same time), another really soft bear he received from the Child Services group of volunteers, a comic-themed pillow he got to pick out from the same group, a pony courtesy of Wells Fargo (that was staring at him when he woke up one morning, HA!), and a little plush animal from his mother. He fell asleep this evening while holding his Build-A-Bear as we watched Guardians of the Galaxy, which I bought him for Christmas and that he's already seen more than a few times. He woke up when I was leaving thinking we stopped the movie because he feel asleep, so he offered to tell me how it ends. He's got a menu that he can order from for all his meals just like room service. The volunteers check on the kids every few hours and are there to generally help with anything, including tutoring with homework if needed. They also plan events, like they had going on Sunday. The floor he's on has a playroom that was donated by Troy Aikman and is all manners of awesome.

Yeah, he's going to hate when it's time to go home and then go back to school.
