My mom's side of the family always does its gathering dinners on holiday eves. I was pretty happy that I got to see my cousin tonight. He's been deployed overseas with the Air Force 6 times now, and I've only been able to see him twice in that time, which equates to something close to 10 years. He's 9 years my junior, and we've never been all that close, but it's still nice to know he's doing well. He's now stationed out of Shreveport, so I might actually be able to see him again at Christmas time.

Only my schizophrenic uncle asked me if I was still in school. Nobody else asked me about my plans and whether or not I was going to become some uber scientist in the near future. That's a first. I think I've finally tired them out of asking me about grad school plans - it only took 4 years. Either that or there was just too much attention on my cousin and my sister this go round. Eh. They might still spring a question on me come Christmas.
