My Evening

I finally went to Tokyo One, the all-you-can-eat sushi buffet. It wasn't bad, but Anthony and I have decided we'd rather spend much less money at Edohana and get better all around sushi offerings. I actually tried one white fish sashimi (it was on the plate with the tilapia, but I think it was a second type of fish that was not labeled) that was amazingly tough to chew. My jaw was already killing me, so this did not go down as one of my favorites. I honestly wasn't impressed with even a single item there - it was all just ok. (What the hell is up with the purple sushi rice on the rolls??) I was impressed by their service, though. Just remember that if you go you are paying for the variety, not necessarily the quality, as is the case with most all buffets.

Apparently, I still haven't taken Anthony to Japanese Grill for their Hurricane Roll that is to die for. I need to make a list of friends that I still need to drag there. If I could get a party of about 10 people and order 5 Hurricane Rolls at once, I'll consider it a new power-up achievement.

After dinner, I got to subject the boys to another episode of the original BSG and to Westworld. Unfortunately, the baby was more than just a little fussy the whole night. He spent the bulk of the evening in my arms going back and fourth between falling asleep while eating and then waking up 30min later crying. (Yes, I burped him - this isn't the first baby I've ever taken care of, sheesh.) It's probably good I was there to help ease the load off of dad, who was stuck watching all three of them by himself and was noticeably loosing patience by the minute. It doesn't help that those boys never stop being rowdy for two seconds.

Middle Man Munchkin has taken to the cats so well he won't ever leave them alone. Like CONSTANTLY. I finally managed to get him to quit picking up the cats and ONLY pet them if they came to him and to stop rolling around the room while we were watching the movie. To his credit, he did a mostly ok job of watching the movie, which has some slow times when they are trying to build up that good ol' 1970's sci-fi tension using geometric images on old two-tone monitors. No really, those tension-based monitor sequences were hilarious. I bet the boys thought they were seeing really crappy screen savers or something. For the movie, it was supposed to show how advanced their technology was - so advanced they weren't even using words, kind of like seeing the Matrix on a monitor. *snicker*

Eventually I sat the baby down and backed away slowly. Dad said it was about time for another bottle, but he'd been off and on feeding the whole night. Big boy fell asleep on the couch while I was rocking the baby to sleep, and little bit finally curled up nicely in my parents' bed. All was good and quiet when I left, so I just hope it went well afterwards.
