Family update
My mother called, and you know what that means.
My grandmother's bone cancer is getting worse. Last spring, I think it was, was when they gave us the initial prognosis, and predicted that she wouldn't last through the new year. She's the last surviving grandparent of mine.
Her recent PET scan reveals the cancer is now all over her body, in most all of her bones, and she's already dealing with a couple of fractures because of it. She's going onto hospice immediately, and the current time line is 3-6 months, with estimates closer to the 3 month side of things.
And here I was just starting to come out of my emotional hibernation/backlash/whatever you want to call it that came on suddenly this week*.
Is it possible to actually feel more numb than I already was?
Mom also asked about her laptop "hard disk" failing. I told her to call the Geek Squad. I wasn't about to deal with it short of tossing it out the kitchen window just to let out general frustrations at the universe. I don't think she or dad would be very appreciative of something like that.
