Friday night I headed over to [livejournal.com profile] mr_rubix's for movies and drinking. It was a good evening of game chat and random tv watching. I managed to drink way more than I should which resulted in a not-so-good alcohol poisoning and a 2-hour delay trying to get up and make my way to the CP game the next day. If I hadn't kidnapped [livejournal.com profile] mr_rubix to help with this I doubt I would have made it to the game. After a few hours, the concoction created by [livejournal.com profile] koed, and many earlier prayers to the porcelain gods, my body final reset and I was able to fully enjoy the game and the dinner that I made for everyone. Sunday: recovery via many naps and some relaxing evening movies.

Quick movie review:

If you want to slash your wrists after watching a horrible train wreck, then go rent Dragonhead. Otherwise, cut the damn head off of the dragon and leave that movie alone. It has some interessting set designs, but you want to kill all of the characters the moment you are introduced to them. Here is a nice play-by-play write up of the movie with some scene footage, although these guys liked the movie unlike myself.

Immortel was absolutely amazing and quite fitting with our CP2020 game and the possibility of a CP-future game. [livejournal.com profile] koed, you must see this if you haven't yet.

The pasta bake was quite tasty.

And the hanging out rocked. I would love to do so again sometime if you have the time free. Glad you are pretty much fully recovered. :)

Of course

Yeah, you missed seeing my drunk ass trying to drill a hole in my head later that morning from massive hangover. Bad, bad thing.

Yeah I had just a touch of hangover the next morning. And Husband's parents were over at about 1030. Fixing the sink in our bathroom. Ow. Then I got to go dance and do a fun routine that has me spinning a lot. I was in a touch of pain.

Seriously.

Immortel rawxzorz my sawxzorz!! YAY for thought-provoking symbolism, odd relations betweek Egyptian gods, and sexy blue-hairedness!

I read somewhere and I agree: The French should make more movies in English!

And never underestimate the power...

Of blue nipples. *grin*

I only wish that I had a translation for what Horus, Bast, and Anubis were saying inside the damn pyramid.

A friend of mine who's studied Egyptian EVERYTHING says that whatever they're saying closely approximates what we think Egyptian would probably sound like. Their phenomes sound right, nearly as we can guess. The Rosetta Stone is our only jumping off point, really, so we have no idea.

Outside of that, we've no idea what's actually being said.

That is both cool and frustrating.

Cool because I had been wondering about the pronunciations and all, frustrating because JOSH SMASH!

Time to MST3K the conversations, then...

Considering that they are sitting there playing card games to pass the time away, I would imagine it's something like, "do you think he'll make it?", "betcha 5 souls he doesn't", "deal"

...later on "where is that fucker (pardon the pun, considering the movie), his time's almost out and I'm going to have to give away some of my minions if he doesn't hurry"

So I take it you recommend Immortel? Wish I'd seen that before E & I did our Sunday movie fest.

I've still got the copy from Blockbuster.

And, since it does not have to be back until NEXT Monday, do you want me to drop it off for you guys to check out some time?

Sure, I've got Fri, Sat & Sun free so far.

And I can pick it back up on Sunday and get it to Blockbuster. Plus I can remember to pick up my freaking sunglasses. :)

I just put up about the same response :) But I'm trying to eat, post childcare payments and email at the same time.

Well, we rented it Sunday night, not Friday

I don't think it's due back to Blockbuster until next Monday. I could try to talk [livejournal.com profile] mr_rubix into bringing it to you one the evenings this week and then I could come over and watch it again. I would love to be abe to see it again before it gets returned. It was that good.

I'm free Fri, Sat & Sun. thus far for this week.
Could be earlier if the rumors on the floor are true.

Other than Wednesday night, which is reserved for LOST with James and Mel, I can bring Immortel over any night that you, E, and Nikki would want to watch it and have the time free.

And if you end up watching it on Sunday as a group - count me in!
