Overdue update

I rocked my Goddess Persephone costume a couple weekends back and again last weekend 🙂. I'm glad the roommate recommended her. I was otherwise going to be "generic goddess," but Persephone's got such a great story and allowed me to combine pretty flowers with a Cerberus pin, a snake necklace, and a skull mug without a second thought.

There's another party coming up this weekend with a Sub-Par Hero theme (vs Super Hero theme). Since I'm such a fan of Harley Quinn, I was thinking of going as Charleen Ginzel, Charlie Gin or CG for short (to which my mom was like, oh! that's your initials, and I had to remind her that she's thinking of her other daughter, lol - love ya sis!). I have red and black plaid flannel shirts I could splice together with safety pins, a "country" HQ beanie, and a never-ending bottle of gin to carry around as her Sub-Par Power. "No, not Jinn like a genie, but I am always in a bottle, if you catch my drift, har har."
[EDIT: I decided not to go, and our household and friend watched Dune instead.]

I also more or less platinum blonde hair now before I go back to my dark colors, metallic purple being the first then back to the usual burgundy, although I'm considering a little stint as strawberry blonde, because I'm not actually all that keen on how this platinum looks on me. I went to a professional instead of having my mom work on it again, as she's pretty much done with trying to bleach my hair. We had to do some color corrections first, since the permanent black/red from last year's Dia De Los Muertos costume is still hanging out a bit in the hair. It's very faint, but enough to mess with trying for platinum. It's still a bit there, but I'm not going to to damage my hair anymore trying to get to pure white. It's "white" enough.

And now work-stuffs.

The oil & gas company I've been contracted with since Mar 2, 2020, filed for bankruptcy back in Aug and has now been sold off to three other companies. The company's WARN date to its employees was Oct 19, but due to TSA's with the purchasing companies a lot of office staff are continuing for a little while longer to keep the business afloat during the transition period. My contract has been extended through Oct, and it's a wait-and-see if they will extend me past that. I'm betting I'll at least get extended through completing the Oct month-end close, which will put it mid-Nov. So, every two weeks I get extended again, but I usually don't know until last minute.
I've thoroughly enjoyed working from home despite also seeing my roommates non-stop and rarely seeing coworkers, lol. Pajama pants and lunch-time showers are just NICE. Robert Half wanted me to purchase a proper suit for meeting new clients, but then Lockdown happened, and then I've been on this one contract for the past year and a half now - I guess it's time to actually go buy that outfit.

As such I don't know when or where my next contract will be. I hope Fort Worth for the closer drive, but considering my Sr Accounting title and how RH is trying to get me higher level work at higher pay, I'll probably have to start taking contracts on the Dallas side of things. Cost of Living and Pay is just overall higher in Dallas, and they can sell my talents easier in Los Colinas, Irving, and Dallas than they can in Fort Worth.

I also have a potential job offer to go back into the plumbing industry for a company that would have me as CFO within 5 years or less as they grow into Remodel and New Construction. Two issues - 1) they are literally one block from the entrance to Fair Park, which now that Fair is over isn't as much an issue, but it's still a slog of a drive for someone that has had a 2-step commute to the office for the past 1.5 years, and 2) UGH, I'm really liking the corporate environment and going back into the plumbing world just doesn't sound appealing. I'm working for them as a contractor to get them up and running, so I'm enjoying the setup process, but I'm not sure if I'm willing to stick around once they are in maintenance mode.

I think a lot of it will depend on how things look come around December time or so.

EDIT: I wrote the above stuff a couple weeks ago and just never actually posted it, but I'm not in the mood to edit it. As of today, ALL of the staff at the Oil and Gas company are awaiting the results of a bankruptcy hearing they had today to find out if any of us are reporting for work on Monday. My supervisor is optimistic, my coworkers are not, and I'm honestly ready to get out of there. I think I officially have short-timer syndrome. Also, a previous co-worker has been talking with my handlers at Robert Half about getting onto her place as a contractor, so as far as I know, I'll probably be good to switch to another contract as soon as Monday if needed.
