I have to say, I was pretty disappointed with the season 2 finale of Wayward Pines. It seriously lacked [the type of ending] that I was expecting. It was very blase.

I still recommend the show, but all that buildup to the final episode tripped and fell down a stairwell.

Where's my Final Takeover scene?!?

At the VERY least, I kept waiting for Margaret to give out her official "Let's Kill Them All!" battle cry, and to see them all scaling the walls a la World War Z style, the same way they tested scaling the wall during the first episode of the season. They could have thrown in a little of the killing off of the remaining survivors and/or seeing how they respond to the buildings. That alone would have probably saved the episode for me.

I did like that they confirmed, at least for me, the whole "hive mind" and "queen" thing, which I surmised even before they introduced Margaret (seeing as how we never saw any females) by showing the Abbey Mound in the finale, made to look much like an ant mound.

Speaking of Margaret, I really loved all the Inside Wayward Pines scenes with her. Rochelle Okoye did a wonderful job portraying her.
