The Machine has got to be one of the best AI movies I've seen in a long time. It very much trumps Chappie, Transendence, and Ex Machina. It appears much lower budget and Indie, but the thoughts and the Turing tests presented are much more fleshed out. (There might be a pun in there if you watch the movie, considering the AI "machine" is nothing but naked-but-in-the-dark flesh for a good portion of the movie.)

Wayward Pines - Take The Prisoner's island, throw it into the town of Twin Peaks, add some Silent Hill chanting, and sprinkle a little Hemlock Grove gore and science on top of it all. I was a bit meh about the first two episodes, until the last 5min of episode 2. Tonight's episode has me hooked now that there's been a couple additions and a couple subtractions to the town's folk. I'm not sad that Beverly and Sheriff Pope are gone, but I am sad that the actors Juliette Lewis and Terrence Howard are gone. However, I'm really glad the wife and son have arrived in town, because I was getting annoyed that their part of the story was starting to mimic the thrown-in-as-a-second-thought-for-male-roles father's never-making-it-to-town track from the first Silent Hill movie.

It doesn't help that they have Toby Jones in Wayward Pines. I keep expecting to hear birds chirping. (Doctor Who reference)
