It took less than 10min for it to reach full-blown pain. I groggily got out of bed and took 4 ibuprofen and a Zomig (because I have yet to try a Zomig for this issue, as it might still be migraine related, but I don't know for sure). I decided that with it being 5am, and Benadryl typically knocking me out for 6 hours, I could stand to sleep in till 11am, so after a few more minutes I took one of those as well. I knew this was going to kill my morning plans of getting out of the house and doing some errands, but being in pain for a few hours and then passing out for a few more due to a wipe of my energy would cost me more time and pain in the long run.
It still took about 30 minutes for the medicines to kick in, but I managed to find a good resting position on the bed and try to relax my muscles to keep the pain from getting too bad. I did fall asleep, and woke up again at almost exactly 11am pain free. I tried the Benadryl trick the last time, but the pain was so bad it overpowered the sleepiness that Benadryl normally brings, and I spent my time miserably on the couch being cared for by the roommates.
Unfortunately, since I did take the Benadryl and successfully pass out, I have no idea how long the pain lasted this time. Sometimes they last just a couple hours and go away on their own, so I can't actually know if the ibuprofen/Zomig really helped or not. At ~$20 a pill, I hoard the Zomig until I really, REALLY need one, but given the severity of these chest pains as of late, I really wasn't in the mood to go through that. If I could sleep it off, that's what I wanted, and it worked out in my favor...this time.
Now to get my butt in gear to get those errands done.
