The muscle just above my knee is killing me from getting bonked a few too many times in class today. My right elbow hit pretty hard on the hardwood floor a couple weeks ago and is still giving me shit every time I even slightly rub it against something (like the center console in my car, which I seem to hit so very often it's ridiculous).

I tested today for my next level in class. I had the option to test two levels (since the last time he ran tests was Dec 2012), but the (escrima) stick work required for the second level up is something that I'm about 90% knowledgeable of, but only about 1/2 sure of regarding my physical proficiency implementing. I figure a month or two training the stick work is all it will take to gain the full confidence I need for that level, so hopefully my instructor will let me test it no later than summer time. I'd hate to have to wait an entire year for another test. I'll get the results back in probably next Friday's or Sunday's class for today's test. Since I was the only person testing (about 95% of the lower level students flaked, so he's rescheduling them), my instructor picked out three other instructors to be my attackers while he observed. I think it's pretty awesome reaching a level that requires other instructors to be the attackers. I still feel a bit like I'm flailing around at times, because I have too many options that I can't pick which one I want to use. Of course, this beats out how I felt during the first couple tests, where I was more focused on trying to remember what exactly I was trained to do.

My parents have adopted a new kitten that managed to get trapped in the garage by the dogs on one of the freezing cold days. She's so far just been called "Kitty" and "Snuggles" (by one of the nephews), so no official name yet. She appears to be a dilute calico, and I forgot to check for tabby markings, because I was too busy playing with her, holding her, and flopping her up on my shoulder to care about looking. She's an amazingly social lap kitty that already sits right on top of mom's laptop while she's working on it. Little Bit managed to get one of her baby teeth while she was play-gnawing on his finger, so he's going to take it to show-and-tell at school. It's so freaking tiny.

I finished watching through all of Dexter. Quite frankly, I was more perturbed by the annoying hurricane intrusion in the final episode than I was with how they ended the plot lines. That storm was really distracting and totally NOT NECESSARY. I'll have to sit down and watch the last 2 or 3 episodes again to get a better feel for it, but in all, I'm really not surprised by how they chose to end it. That being said, I can see how so many other people were all up in arms over it, but I'm an oddball that tends to like unconventional endings that go against the majority populace wishes.

Tomorrow, my organizing company will be putting out its first advertising with Valpak. It'll only be one service area to start with, but hopefully it will drum up some business. A friend is working on our website, since it's currently old and dated, and he's good with websites and could use the side work right now. I'm reserving my excitement for when I see how many potential clients call us from this mailing. I really want to squee about it, but not just yet. In general, though, I'm really happy that we're moving the company forward. New logo and business cards, soon-to-be updated webpage, and hopefully some new clients. It's promising.

I received the earth magnets in the mail that I'm going to use for a cross stitch magnetic frame idea I have. I'm hoping they're not too strong. It's almost impossible to pull two of the cubes apart from each other, although it's not too horrible pulling one away from a group of three. I really hope this works well. The nephews have already had a go with the magnets, and I've learned that the outside structure is weak and easily chippable. Admittedly, I went with the cheapest ones I could find, so I'm honestly not surprised.

I'm back into a gaming mode. So I might be OCDing on knocking a couple games out over the next couple months. I own more games than I can count (I let Steam handle the counting for me). I think a lot of it is the fact that Tom did tech support for me so that my desktop would finally load Portal 2, something that I've been putting off for many months. I've been playing little offline games here and there, usually polishing them off in a day or two. My nephews just loaded up Saints Row The Third at home, and they've been playing CoD: Ghosts since Christmas. They're turning into full-blown gamers.

So, yeah, speaking of which....I'm going to go load up a game to cap off my evening.
