This is something different. I'm assuming that by the nature of the designs, a big box "hanging out there" can become a part of a row but not a column, or vice versa. That's the only way I can see it working.

It seems that's exactly the case in the example given at 54sec in the video below, based on the position of the 9's on the board. If I'm "reading" that example correctly, it has 3 big columns (containing 2 or more big boxes), 2 big rows, and 3 "hanger" or "loner" boxes that contribute to either a big row or a big column, but not both.

Also, I love their website flash design. I was thinking of doing something like that for my company website, although admittedly not with such fancy graphics and sound effects.
