I've been going insane OCDing on trying to solve a single Sudoku puzzle that's in one of my nightstand books.
I also have the Mensa Guide to Solving Sudoku that I've been working through ridiculously slowly while finding out what "master secrets" I haven't already figured out on my own.
Getting stuck on this one particular puzzle increased my want to work through and learn the techniques in the Mensa book. It's more slow going than I prefer, and I hadn't been able to crack my Problem Puzzle, so I finally decided to cheat.
I found a really GREAT online sudoku solver which can go step-by-step through solving a puzzle. I typed in the puzzle and ran the Unique Check on it, and according to this solver, my Problem Puzzle has 19 solutions, which would explain my getting stuck trying to solve it.
At least now I don't feel so much like an idiot restarting it repeatedly and assuming I kept making an error somewhere.
In case you're curious, copy and save this into a text file which you can then load into the online sudoku solver. The cell format for that is left-to-right, top-to-bottom, in case you just want to scribble the numbers into a paper grid. (i.e. that first 1 is in the top row 1, column 6, and the lone 7 on the board is in row 8, column 7, in case you are making sure you entered the numbers into the grid correctly)
