The one thing I don't like about buying a house isn't that I have to say no to going out to movies or dinners. It's that I also have to say no to giving money and things to people who really need it. I like being able to help people out when I can in a monetary fashion, and having to restrain that is actually causing me a lot of anxiety. I'm not used to this, and it's frustrating me.

Yeah, I know. Covering a bill, dragging someone out to eat, or replacing something that broke for someone who really needs it is just my default way of showing I care when someone is hard up on their luck in the moment. I never ask for anything in return, nor do I ever ask to get paid back. To say I'm not very good with plain ol' empathizing is an understatement, and that I can't do any more than that makes me feel like I'm letting the person down, even though I know I'm not.
