I keep seeing this word everywhere to describe Generation Y or the NeXtGen.
Is this where I wave my banner and state I'm proud to be a part of Generation X?

Date: 2012-01-19 11:06 pm (UTC)It's funny, because having been born in 1980, I only qualify as Gen-X in the most technical sense. But I fully feel like I am one despite most others being at least a few years older than me.
I think that's because of my upbringing. My entire youth was houses, TV shows, movies, clothing, and cars that were 10 years behind the times.
Sure, when I watched The Jeffersons, Gilligan's Island, 3's company, Cheers, Charlie's Angels, etc, they were re-runs on TBS/TNT. But those were basically the only channels I was allowed to watch. There was no MTV allowed in our house. Too 'secular' and 'dirty.'
So while my friends were talking about Friday the 13th movies or The Wizard, I was talking about Logan's Run and getting funny looks.
Also I'm convinced that in the 1980's all thrift store clothing was required to be at least ten years old.
