Eh, you never know. It may not be as steady as he would like, and maybe there's months that he worries about paying the bills and borrows from friends and family, or only eats Ramen. Maybe he has a girlfriend that makes enough to pay the bulk of the bills, so whatever he makes is just spending/play money for the two of them. I actually know a very happily-married couple like that, where he says, "I only work to pay her taxes," and that works for them.

I'm envious of freelancers. Being tied down to a routine is part of what makes me hate work so much.
