In answer to the question, What is the meaning of life?

Short answer: To Live

When someone stops to think about this question they almost always spout some long-assed answer that details their moral, philosophical, and religious views about how to live.

HOW to live is not the meaning of life.

There is no reasonable meaning to life.

I wonder if that's the primary difference between humans and all the other animals - we keep trying to give reason and meaning to existence, especially to the point that there must be a positive meaning to existence. Our egos make us believe that there must be a point to it all, a point to suffering, a point to pain. There has to be some kind of reward at the end of it all, or maybe a reward around the next turn of the corner. We are downtrodden when there isn't a reward and ecstatic and justified when there is.

There is really nothing you must be,
And there is nothing you must do.
There is really nothing you must have,
And there is nothing you must know.

There is nothing you must become.

However,
It helps to understand that fire burns,
And when it rains the earth gets wet.
