Honorifically Pondering

I know that so many things I do in life come from tradition and from very early teachings that I simply absorbed without question. I love it when these are pointed out to me, because I'm made aware of yet another socialized learning in my mind that I can consciously unravel and resolve. I may or may not still act the same way in the final outcome, but at least I'll know why I am doing what I'm doing either way.
For instance, a few years back I stopped saying bless you when someone sneezes. Rarely will I say it out of old habit, but for the most part, I just don't say it any more.
This article and it's comments has me questioning my own use of honorifics. It's an interesting read.
