I miss that, too. Now when I get home there's at least three different sites I can check to see what friends have been saying (and I'm in the minority with so few sites to check). But still I don't feel connected. I need that face to face confrontation. That ability to look into someones eyes and tell when they're not talking to me or giving me or the subject we're discussing their full attention.
It gives the world this ever present feel of disconnection. I want my quality time back.
