NOLA NOLA NOLA
Jan. 14th, 2011 02:21 pmMaking plans to hit New Orleans for the first time, for a whole week in March.
We've already vetoed the week of Mardi Gras and the week of St. Pat's, just for general sanity and hotel prices.
If you would please, I need to get the name of a couple of those hotels you peeps have stayed in and recommend.
And also FOOOOOOOOD places. :)

Date: 2011-01-14 09:09 pm (UTC)You can get some GREAT deals in the Garden District. We highly recommend the Prytania Park Hotel, or any of its affiliates. In the immediate vicinity are several outstanding eateries, pubs, and railcar lines.

Date: 2011-01-14 09:37 pm (UTC)Reminds me of staying in a bed/breakfast just outside of the main San Antonio area and just driving into downtown for the fun stuff. Was only about a 10min drive, so no issue at all.

Date: 2011-01-14 10:29 pm (UTC)Definitely echo the sentiment from James on the Prytania properties. If you do stay there, the cable car stop is about a block away on St. Charles. Goes straight down to Canal Street at the start of the quarter. And it's $1.25. Right on there at the corner on St. Charles near the hotels is Voodoo BBQ and the St. Charles Pub. Both pretty easy on the pocketbook and good food.
As far as other food goes, I've not had anything less than an excellent meal in NOLA.
