After more drugs and a hot shower I was finally able to eventually go to sleep and wake with the alarm clock. The pain turned into a mild throbbing and is now either hiding in the shadows behind the ibuprofen or subsided enough that I feel more like my normal achy, grumpy self. The goal is to start with the chiropractor tomorrow.

I really think I need to start saving money for a new bed. The one I have is a very nice double pillow mattress, but I'm pretty sure it's way too soft for my joints. I've had it for about 20 years now, and it's still just as pretty as when I first got it, but my back isn't a pretty 14 year old's back any longer.

And when people ask, this is an example of why I tell people I spent $1500 fucking dollars on a MATTRESS. Because not only do I have fibro and arthritis, I have an old back injury that likes to flare on occasion and I need FIRMNESS that still has squish.

It only took us... 4 months to find a mattress that worked? Worth it, though - it means we can toss and turn in our sleep and not bother the other person. (Not a Temperpedic, tho. Not as nifty as advertised, at least to me.)

I do believe mattresses are still cheaper than spines. Unless you get a black market spine.
