I suddenly want to plant and grow a pistachio tree.

I also want to calculate how much space and time would be needed to plant a garden and trees to sustain a family for an entire year, along with a few hens and milking cows.

I like my modern suburban life, but sometimes I surprise myself.

You need to find the British comedy Good Neighbours.

Definately do that

Please include a pear tree.
But we could use these calculations if we succeed

i'm hoping to buy a walnut tree from our work plant sale next week!

i've seen a website around the traps that does a calculation like that for you... for the garden bit anyway. i've had a look through my history but heck if i can find it.

i think i'm well on my way to being a suburban farmer...

we have 2x 1m square plots with brocolli, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, lettuce, brusslesprouts, rhubarb, basil and chives. i want to add another two so we can put in pumpkin, squash and zucchini over winter.

there are a bunch of unnamed herbs and tomato bushes in the chook pen and i'm trying desperately to get parsley growing in a pot near the house since i use it so often.

instead of weeding out the 'weeds' that are edible i'm letting them grow and now my garden beds have nasturtiums flowering like mad! yummy edible flowers!

tree wise we have bananas, lime, lemon, cumquat, quava and mulberry in our yard and at dads there are manderins, pomegranate and pawpaw (he also has a crazy vegie garden of asian vegies!).

we have two chickens and want to get a few more. just need to get a goat for milk :)

i really need to take photos!!
