Walking

[livejournal.com profile] my_window_seat and I have started a little walking regime. Every Tuesday and Thursday before work we walk for about 15-30 minutes. It's sad that I can get so tired out just from walking briskly for such a short period of time.

This morning was a wonderful 81 degrees with a thick slab of 70-freaking % humidity. It was like walking through a cool jello. Getting back home to the wonderful dry A/C rooms was heaven.

I only hope I'm able to keep up the regime after she's moved, although I'll probably convert it to riding my bike around on the streets. I'm also thinking about ways that I can start riding my bike to and from work. This is a bit trickier as I never know when I'll have to make a run to the bank which sadly can only be done by car. Pondering.

Hey - wanna do BellyDance on Saturdays?

I remember there was a beginners class at 9 or 9:30am. It sucked going alone. I got one of those nifty veils you can borrow.

As for the car .. maybe you could - as an expirement - leave it at work just this week, using it to drive from Work to the Bank.

The office has streets around it that can be routed to equal pretty much exactly 1mi in google maps. Flat, quiet, usually pretty bereft of traffic for a lot of them. Walking a quick 15-20 mins definitely gets the blood flowing.

The 'leave the car at work' idea is also very good. There's even a garage for it.

You could also start switching off bank duties to someone else on certain days, like I could go on one of my half-days or after breakdown (didn't think of that yesterday, dur), or you could cover dispatch for me while I do it, or we could have Brenda do it as a final duty of the day, etc.

+1 to both of these in fact, I forgot the dance one. Your 'core strength' muscle tone will go through the roof in short order doing that.

Hula hooping also works on that and fits the dance thing, too.

Yeah, those are all things that I've thought of. Have to get the work schedule figured out first.

The car - That would be great if someone could then magically transport it back to the house for any evening stuff I want to accomplish more than a mile from home. I also tend to go straight from home to some place other than work while running work errands on Tuesdays and Thursdays. :/

Belly dancing - I'd rather find a martial arts/yoga type class, but either way I'm sticking to free solutions for the time being. Either that or a Wii Fit.

I have really nice abs. I just can't see them through all the fat surrounding them.

if you guys cash a company check to pay the day laborers, then that's a no go...bank won't cash a check for someone not on the account.
