Descartes Flipped On His Ass

I'm finishing up reading On Intelligence. The long ass chapter How The Cortex Works bogged me down with technical details that despite already knowing most of them kept tripping me up while reading.
Now I'm reading the chapter Consciousness and Creativity. The author is recounting a philosophical discussion with some other scientists in which he tried to prove to them that he's not a conscious being - only a Zombie. I just started laughing when I read it because it is so reminiscent of the reverse Turing question I posed back in December.
I'm so amazed at how many ideas this book mentions that are just like previous papers I've written in other classes, only not to the depth that his book goes. What can I say? The man has a good 20+ years worth of research and practical experience on me. However, given that the book was only published 4 years ago (after he worked a couple of years writing it), I'd like to think that I'm doing pretty well on my bell curve status regarding this area of intrigue.
