Someone please explain to me why the fuck new printers do not come with usb cables.

Who the hell thought this would be a good idea????

I don't like that it's not black or at least the dark charcoal gray, but I screwed around with everything else there and this is the best one for removing paper jams, easy access to ink cartridges and paper trays, and a sleek enough design that makes it easy to dust. As though I might regularly dust it or something.

They don't come with cables because the manufacturer has no way of knowing how far from your computer you will be needing/wanting to locate the printer. Better to let people buy just the length they need, or so the prevailing wisdom says.

At least that's how it was explained to me.

That's the shittiest excuse I've ever heard. Especially when I sometimes can't find them at the vendors.

yes - HP does not ship USB cables with their printers, citing it's helps drive down the cost. I dunno about the other guys..

Yeah you ranted. Yeah I didn't listen. Yeah I still have the cable from the other HP printer I've got. Yeah it's working. And yeah fast draft mode causes it to literally spit the paper out at me.

It prints cds/dvds. So I will always be questioning which to use: lightscribe or color printer.

I'm currently using the usb from the older printer that needs repair. I may need another cable if I get that printer up and running and give/sell it to someone in case THEY don't have a cable. If you have one to spare, I won't be turning it down.

If you don't have the cable, go itno my room and grab the one for MY printer which is essentially a photo copier now. The usb is there a suggestion - it really won't send or receiv info.

Of course I've had the printer roughly 5-6 years
