Yesterday was my last day in the Fort Worth shop of my current company. Thursday is my last day in the Dallas shop and for good.

I've been working an hour a day, three days a weeks, for the past couple weeks at the new location. I'm having to start from scratch teaching my new boss accounting 101, what a chart of accounts is, how JEs are different than checkbook register entries, etc., but I love it. I love being able to go back to my accounting roots and set up an entire company from scratch and explain to someone how all this works.

I've also been putting in time on my own researching and playing with the trial Quickbooks online. There's still some kinks to be worked out regarding how we will be processing invoices at the new job. I know how they need to be processed, and I can always create an Excel or even Access database (or go all MySQL fancy, or some such), but it would be nice to find a ready-made, cheap solution already out there. Combing through available softwares is a bit of a nightmare.

I'm really excited about changing jobs now, compared with the utter dread I was feeling when faced with the prospect of needing to get away from my present employer. Now I am just grinning at work through gritted teeth reminding myself that all this stuff will no longer be a worry of mine come the new year. I can't wait.
