Would an AI robot accept that it is nothing more than a robot when it reaches the same level of self-awareness as humans?

After all, humans can't seem to accept that we/they are nothing more than a conglomeration of carbon and water and therefore have no "soul" anymore than a robot conceptually would.

I find it odd the number of people that confuse self-awareness and theory of mind with mystical teachings and outdated musings of soul as presented by Descartes.

I love that man for his thoughtfulness, but I hate him for his thoughts.

I agree with Fromm: we are such a psychotic bunch.
