I know at least one person that I HAD to buy this for. I know plenty of others that need to buy it for themselves.

I went to the doctor today for my ankle rope burn. She said it looks pretty clean and did not require any debriding. Amazingly enough, she's treating it topically only, no antibiotics, and she thinks it should be healed over well enough in a week. Fibracol adds collagen and building materials to the wound to help it rebuild the skin. It's placed directly on to the wound and held in place with just a band aid. In the next couple of days I'll redress the wound with more collagen and can go back to the adhesive pads being used before. The swelling had gone down significantly from last night to this morning, but it always looks better in the morning anyway. We're using a special wrap, versus a typical ACE bandage, to keep the swelling down and pull the fibrin (see third para under Color for info) yellow pus out of the ankle, which is the cause of the swelling and itching. Fibrin is apparently a natural part of the inflammation, but actually hinders the creation of new skin. No signs of infection aside from that discharge. So long as it's kept under control I shouldn't have to make a trip to the hospital.

Follow up appointment in one week.

The usual throbbing and pain of the affected area is gone and is now replaced with the throb of having this bandage fight it's battle with the swelling. I feel like my leg is in a full press.

Because I've been asked:

SurePress High Compression Bandage

Aside from it being "high-compression" I'm really not sure how it's supposed to help with the swelling side of things.

EDIT: This gives a good description on how the indicators on the bandage work.

EDIT2: I'm learning more and more by the minute. The bandage works to increase the venous pump in my leg which is supposed to be sending excess fibr...(see previous post) back into the blood stream and out of my foot.

Hence why not only is my leg wrapped all the way to my knee, as per doctor's orders, but I have truly become the office manager that props her legs on her desk. I need a pic of me in my cubicle.
