Torn asunder
May. 10th, 2006 07:06 amThere is a large piece of land of approximately 15 acres diagonal of the YMCA at the street intersection. It's wooded land filled with many large trees and brush that makes it difficult to distinguish where the trees end and the weeds and vines begin. There are many areas like that around the east side of Fort Worth. Well, there used to be. They're starting to be overrun by housing developers. In one day I watched as big machines razed about one-half of that particular piece of land. In the many years that I've worked at the YMCA I've always thought that it would be so wonderful to have the money to purchase that land and build a house somewhere hidden in the middle of all those trees. It would have a single driveway which would disappear into the trees and wind around just a bit. With 15 acres, there would be enough room to have a house and a nice sized yard and no passing cars from the street would ever be the wiser. There's something about woods that I really enjoy.
I'm saddened by the loss of my little dream.
