McNair Presentation
Aug. 11th, 2005 08:47 amWell, yesterday was a long day. The presentation went great. During rehearsals last week, I wasn't able to even finish the intro before the "2 minutes left" sign came up. This time, I had practiced enough and re-worked the power point presentation just right. I hit the "5 minutes" sign just when I thought I should and still had time for questions at the end. I was also happy that people asked the questions that I had hoped would be raised from the presentation, especially things that I had to intentionally leave out for the sake of time, even though I really wanted to talk about them. I even made the audience laugh a couple of times with the examples I gave. I must have had a huge smile on my face just as I said "Thank You" and returned to my seat. I was so proud of myself. This is the first time that I've not fallen flat on my face while giving a speech.
After everyone presented for the day, a group of us went to La Madeline for some fine French cuisine. I had never been there before, but it has always been on my list of places to go. Wonderful food. And the pastry display when you walk in is to die for.
After lunch we went back to have our pictures taken for the McNair publication. Again I was first up and didn't have any time to preen since we got back about 15 minutes late from lunch. The photographer was nice and took many pictures and allowed me to see them. I like the one we picked out, although I still wish I had time to play with my hair and makeup a bit.
Then it was off to work from 3-7pm, followed by a child care staff training. I had to go over with them all of the bookkeeping procedures that I expect them to follow. This seems like a good crew, so maybe they'll do what their supposed to.
Finally, back home a little after 9pm. So a twelve hour day. Of course I come home to a sleeping
smokedamage. No temperature, but definately has a nice cold going on. Our schedules are completely swapped. By the time I was ready to go to bed he was pulling himself out of bed. This morning, I'm waking up and trying to make breakfast, while he's cooking pasta and heating up bolognese.
Now I'm off for another day of presentations and work.
smokedamage is back in bed reading and playing with his laptop. Goodnight, sweetie. See ya this evening if I don't work late.
