From a work-related email I received today.

Suject: Let's ensure this is happening

The VP wants to try something - to start immediately - He would like all staff at your branch to say "Thank You" to members and participants. For example, day camp staff should say "Thank You" for attending camp today when campers are being picked up. Membership desk staff should say "Thank You" for when members leave. Exercise class instructors should say "Thank You" for taking my class. If you hve a question, let me know. Thank You!

Yeah, it's great when it's true and genuine, but when you have notes everywhere reminding you to say it to every single customer that walks in the door, you start to feel more like a robot saying it. Especially when something else might be more appropriate, such as "Have a nice day" or something, but instead you will get yelled at if you don't say "Thank You". That's the issue that I have with it.
