I'm eating a York Peppermint Pattie when I taste something odd. It tastes like ground pepper.

So, for the first time in my life I finally tasted the "pepper" part of peppermint, and now I understand where it gets its name. I never tasted the peppery part of it before.

This entire thing included a moment of my brain being quite confused and saying, "Why on earth would I be tasting pepper in a peppermint pat....oh. Duh."

It only took 35 years to figure that one out.
