In Better, More Bouncy News

At my request, Eileen picked up a (don't know how many feet) lawn trampoline from her Fairly Goth Mother who was moving and giving some stuff away.

I spent most of Sunday assembling the frame and putting on the jump mat. It still has safety pads and a net wall to be added, but it is perfectly functional. I wore a skimpy tank top because I knew it would be hot, and if you know me you know I'm quite fond of my tanks. Well with not a single cloud in the sky this also meant my first sunburn in probably 2-3 years. Luckily it wasn't too bad - just a nice light red instead of beet red or 2nd degree (yes, I've had 2nd-borderline-3rd degree sunburn before, so I damn well know what I'm talking about).

It felt pretty awesome being handed a bunch of parts and told, look, you have a new puzzle to play with, and me actually being able to put it together on my own. I still can't figure out why there are almost twice the number of springs and twice the number of hooks on the mat, so I'm still not 100% sure that I've built this thing correctly.

But it bounces ok.

EDIT: So there are holes underneath the poles for the additional springs. Odd. The bulk of the bouncing force is in a downward motion. I guess they are just being careful.
