I think this is an excellent idea, but for some reason it doesn't appear on the surface to be very practical. Wouldn't it always be excessively sticking out of a device that would require you to use one of the adapters, like for instance a camera that required a ProDuo card (like my sister's camera)?

Also, I have no idea if the price of the 1-2-or-4 GB adaptable cards would be worth it.

I've seen a few of these in use before, and typically the smaller memory device fits entirely within the standard form factor of the adapter. I've never seen people have problems with them fitting into equipment, but haven't really seen a use for them myself. My camera takes XD, and everything else of mine takes USB. So long as the cables work, there's no real reason to dork around with the memory itself. All that does, in my mind, is risk electrostatic damage.
