Odiferous Fire Is Smelly As Ever
Oct. 6th, 2016 10:00 amThis stupid 'mulch pile' fire started in the wee morning hours of Tuesday.
I drive right past that landfill every morning and evening for my work commute, and sometimes if the weather conditions are right I get a nice whiff reminding me that it's there. Heading to work Tuesday morning, I could smell the fire the moment Hwy 287 merges with Loop 820, approximately 3-4 miles north of the landfill. I can see the actual mulch fire from my vantage point when taking the bridge that merges Hwy 287 with I-20. The smell dissipates by the time 287 is its own highway again, exiting away from I-20 going south.
That fire is still going as of this Thursday morning, and damn if that smell wasn't pretty awful while I was driving in to work. Bleh.
