Found Them!
Oct. 5th, 2014 11:02 pmI've been looking everywhere trying to find/remember the throat lozenges that I loved as a child over the Sucrets that tasted too strong for me.
I happened to come across Fisherman's Friend at the drug store today. I opened it up and they almost look like the little throat discs of my childhood, although these smell much stronger. They not only have menthol as the active ingredient, but they also contain capsicum as the first inactive ingredient. This is going to be interesting.
Still, I set out on a quick internet search to see if I could find the old discs from my childhood.
Here we go - Parke-Davis Throat Discs. These things were perfect for me. Oh look - 2 vintage packs for sale. I have to say, I'm strangely tempted.
Hm - It looks like there's a similar throat disc still out there in the wilderness. The discs look right, at any rate.
Then there's make-your-own recipes out there.
LOL - I'm not the only one!
And after trying a Fisherman's Friend - NO - this is way too strong compared to the simple taste of the Parke-Davis discs.
EDIT: Well, hell. this comment gives out a lot of info. Yeah, these discs don't look at all like these discs, and it's the second discs that I'm probably familiar with.
