Shows and movies
Sep. 28th, 2014 09:48 amI watched the premier of Scorpion last night. Good god that was fucking awful. I have zero interest in watching another episode. I rank it up there with Alphas, which I equally hated.
Marvel: Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. - perfect for squeegeeing my brain of the stupid that was Scorpion.
Doctor Who - I'm hoping this latest episode will put the whole Soldier-Hate discussion to bed, because I'm tired of it being thrown down my throat already. Roommate Tom said it best - "What about the Brigadier? The Doctor didn't have such a hate on for him."
Intruders - I think we've finally reached the point in the show where everyone, including the audience, is now on the same page. At first I wasn't sure about this show given how I described the first two episodes as being mentally schizophrenic, but I've come to appreciate that it only felt that way because the show requires you to put fourth a few more brain cells to appreciate it, versus again Scorpion, which somehow manages to kill off some of your brain cells from the act of watching it.
Gotham - I had hope for this show, and so far it has not disappointed. I was worried it would be like another Smallville or other such crap, but nope, it so far stands out as excellent.
I'm looking forward to The Strain's last couple episodes, and The Bridge finale on Wednesday. Next up is American Horror Story: Freak Show.
I'm really liking ReGenesis on Hulu (although it's gradually morphing more into the CSI feel, and that's going to annoy me), and they keep advertising Manhattan during the commercial breaks, so I may give that a try.
I just heard about Penny Dreadful. Anyone know if it was any good?
Upcoming movies that look interesting:
Predestination - Ethan Hawke looks like he might actually do some good acting here
Cymbeline - and maybe he goes back to his usual acting style, but at least there's a huge cast to make this look worth it - along the same lines of Romeo Must Die
Blackhat - maybe? It seems a little cheesy, but the action scenes look nice
Kingsman - starring Colin Firth and Michael Caine bringing punk-ass boys through a coming-of-age movie-long montage, and Samuel L. Jackson who can't decide on which side of that coin he resides
