Parking this here for future reference. And a few parking tips.

I haven't decided yet how exactly I'm going to proceed once I start the fractal cross stitch. The two projects I've done so far have been small enough, and not full coverage, so I've preferred stitching by color. As they have both been on light tan aida, I've started with the lighter colors and worked my way towards the darker/bolder colors. It's been fun watching the projects "come to life" that way. It means that I've re-seated the projects in the hoops many times while moving around with a single color all over the place, but I've only had to deal with a single thread at any given time. Projects like this look like a horrible mess to me, even though I understand the concept behind them.

I've been looking into various (scroll) frames, and I've found a couple that look like something that will keep my OCD to a minimum, as I've already learned that I prefer the aida be as taut as a snare drum on a regular basis. I was pretty grateful when my mom showed me how I was incorrectly using the hoop with the ridge on the inner ring. That made such a huge difference versus the wooden ring with no ridge. I was tightening the project constantly with the latter.

Potential frames I've looked at, again for self-reference )

The fractal, on the other hand, is huge and has tons of colors all intermingled. There's not going to be as many large groupings of the same color being used. I'm wondering if I should try out one more project that will give me a chance to play with the parking method, just so I can see how that plays out and what it looks like on the back. I have a feeling that I'll like it better for the speed it gives, but all those stray strings hanging out are probably going to annoy the shit out of me.

Also, I had no idea what went into some of the string crafts I've seen in my time until I started up a stringworking YouTube channel. This lady is like Spiderwoman or something.
