Random Encounter

I took my car in for an oil change.

The guy sitting next to me seemed to keep trying to get my attention, and I was being shy. He finally succeeded at sparking up a conversation when he saw me perusing a pilot magazine I had picked up off the table. Getting me to talk randomly is hard, but getting me to start talking about flying (or any other of my interests) is pretty easy. Apparently his whole family got into flying except him. He's a computer science degree person who's on a bowling league with his family, and he owns a horse, and he used to be in band back in high school. I learned all this during conversation while he also managed to get a mini-resume out of me as well regarding a lot of my interests. After I left, I got up the nerve to go back in and ask if he'd like to go bowling with me sometime, and he gave me his phone number. We then chatted with the guy at the counter some. Apparently he and I have been going to the same mechanic for many years. He gave me a sort of side hug as I was about to leave indicating he was glad I asked about hanging out.

So, yeah, I've got a random date.
