On A Mission
Oct. 1st, 2011 10:23 amEverything about what makes chat bots so damned awful in my eyes is the exact reason why I got into A.I. in the first place. I don't even like giving chat bots the more exclusive title of expert systems, because as far as I'm concerned they are more like flat jokes still waiting to reach their punch lines. Furbys were more correctly interactive than the current chat bots, which is why I held on to mine and still bring it out every so often.
The AI and machine learning classes are going to be fun, I hope. However, it's my renewed interest in how much I loathe current chat bot programming that has managed to light a fire under my ass.
I'm starting work now on creating my own chat bot program. It's time for me to start putting my foot where my mouth is. This will include all of the planning (that I'm working on now), including modeling and pseudocode, learning at least one programming language to suit my needs (will probably not crack that book open until January at the earliest), and actually programming the thing. I'm hoping to have a working, testable platform by the end of next summer, but we'll see.
