Day Off

Paco has been working mad hours for the past few weeks getting our Dallas office moved into their new building. He thinks this somehow gives him a right to come and ask me if he can take Saturday off. I totally agreed. In the interim, Tom and Shaun have been covering Paco's other weekly shifts for the past few weeks. I figured I was due some overtime, so I'll be working this Saturday's dispatch shift. I requested today off to help offset some of the overtime hours. I could use the money, but I really preferred the extra time off.

I spent last night hanging out with Mila. She finally introduced me to tuna cheek (oh man, I totally forgot to Pocket Ninja the tuna cheek - will just have to go back for more), sold at Akita in Cedar Hill. We hung out at Barnes & Noble for a good hour or so until they announced that they were kicking everybody out. Then we watched an episode of My Name Is Earl, poked some fun at Mars Needs Women, giggled at the Kevin Smith Superman interview, and finally raided her buffet and book case. I got home at 3am and stayed up until 5:30am checking email.

Nyx wondered into my room at 10:30am to meow in my ear. That woke me up. Grrrrr. Eventually I made my way into Plano for hanging out with Anthony. I brought us some curry, spring rolls, cream cheese rolls, and some of the best pad Thai I think I've ever had from Banana Leaf (Christ, make that web page stop blinking).

Seriously, between two great meals and lots of good friend time, that was a great day off. I will be sad to miss the Retro Science Show Thingy on Saturday, but I think I'll survive.

I'm dead tired, so the next Brain Wave installment post I've been working on for two days now is a bit longer delayed.
