Friday night I watched the last two hours of Torchwood: Children of Earth with [livejournal.com profile] my_window_seat.

Saturday I went to an estate sale and resisted buying oh-so-many pretty things. After that was a fabulous lunch at Blue Mesa, but not before a completely unplanned helicopter ride around downtown Fort Worth. You heard me. While driving back [livejournal.com profile] the_paco and I saw a helicopter flying across the freeway, and he commented that he would love to own that. After exiting the freeway I saw the signs for "Helicopter Ride" and saw where the bird touched down just next to us. We quickly decided to stop over and check out the price. $50 per person and they had just started for the day. If we had waited until after eating then there would most likely have been a line, and we were told that sometimes it gets up to two hours wait time. So, after only about a 10min wait for the helicopter to return while we signed the waivers and paid our fees, we were then getting a bird's eye tour of downtown. It reminded me so much of how I miss flying. While the ride was exciting, it was also very short and frustrating for me. I miss being able to fly around in my own Cessna for a couple of hours and practice stall maneuvers.

Today was a nice outing with [livejournal.com profile] my_window_seat. She accompanied me back to the estate sale where everything was discounted 30-50% off. I made a couple of extra purchases, but still managed to resist the really awesome purple crystal cordial stemware set that I so desperately wanted to buy (this image is very similar to the collection I was looking at). We then stopped for a bit of lunch at Pei Wei at the Montgomery Plaza, and I also gave her a little street tour and history of downtown Fort Worth before heading home and collapsing from the heat.

Right now, my back is for some reason hating me to no end. I hope the pain goes away. I blame the heat, but I doubt that's the cause. I still need to force myself to make a run to Target to refill a prescription and buy a replacement window blind, as one of them in my room hasn't worked since i moved in due to a couple of broken strings. I just really don't want to go back outside into the heat again and I really need for my back to stop hurting. I'm also still trying to decide how badly I want to purchase a new sofa. I love the one that was picked out, but I'm still a bit indecisive about actually making the purchase. At least it would be more of a constructive purchase rather than spending my money on the cordial stemware.
