I couldn't have planned it any better. The timing of the meals was pretty good, and both hot courses were served simultaneously with the caprese. No fire alarms went off. The meats were tasty as hell and the cheese on the portobellos was not scorched. Portion sizes were well-rounded and everyone was able to try each of the creations without being under- or over-full. While I didn't make the basil pesto for the caprese and chose instead to buy pre-made, I was proud that I bought exactly the amount of ingredients that I would need for everything in general. The creme brulee did not set the apartment on fire, although I still need a little practice to find that perfect sweet spot for caramelizing the brown sugar on top. Also, the custard part did exactly as the instructions require: trembles slightly. Thinking back, I probably should have partaken in a glass of wine with the meal instead of a soda, but at least it didn't detract from the tasty, tasty food.

Oh, yeah. And we cheered and whooped and hollered and almost cried while listening to Obama's acceptance speech. Congratulations, Mr. President-Elect. We are very proud of what you have accomplished so far and look forward very much to the coming future.

If you've never read A Softer World, then you should start, because it is the kind of dark-as-night humor that I know everyone on my flist loves.

I'm absolutely floored, though, and have gained renewed respect for the photographers/authors as they provide the most profound voice of silence regarding last night's election results that I have yet to hear on the internet.

This is how I feel inside, and there are simply no words to express it, yet they managed to capture it in one fell swoop.

I watched V For Vendetta this evening because, well, why the fuck not.

I'm left with one question on my mind.

What do you do the day after a revolution?
