Yesterday wasn't too horribly bad at work. I had plans after work, but those managed to get side-swiped by my car deciding that Too-Hot-To-Run would be a good temperature for the engine. [livejournal.com profile] koed and [livejournal.com profile] disgruntledgrrl came to my rescue as I discovered that the engine was bone dry of oil. So we put in 3 quarts and began heading to the mechanic's. Not but a few blocks up the road the temp gauge is yelling at me again. So we check the radiator and it too was empty. After putting about a liter of water in we finally start seeing steam. It was so dry that it couldn't even produce steam until we gave it some water. So 2 liters of water later and we're trying again to reach the mechanic's, which luckily we made it successfully.

I stayed up until around 1am watching a movie. I tossed and turned and finally woke up again at 4:30 and unable to go back to sleep. So, since I couldn't sleep I decided to verify that I have in fact checked out every possibility of locating items which I haven't been able to find since moving. I spent the next 1.5 hours re-checking every drawer and box I could find. I can now officially say that the missing items are no where to be found in my room. I had a cigarette to help calm me down and was able to talk to the newspaper delivery guy while outside and tell him he's only supposed to be delivering on the weekends and to please stop delivering weekday papers.

Back to sleep at 6am. Just about to get into a dream when there's a knock on my door at 7am. Try to ignore it and return to the dream, but that didn't work and I made it to the door just in time for the second knocking. I had the alarm set for 7:30 so that I could take [livejournal.com profile] disgruntledgrrl to work this morning and be able to have use of her car today. I think she might have been worried that I wasn't going to be ready in time. The extra 30 minutes let me work on waking up while taking a shower instead of rushing through a shower on auto-pilot and waking at some point during the ride out.

Boss keeps telling me to answer the phone when it rings at work. I've been answering the phone when it rings at the YMCA for the past 7 YEARS. If I weren't so tired I'd probably be a hell of a lot more pissed at her. Her micromanaging is really starting to tick me off. I think it's about time for lunch, after which I would pay good money for a nap, but I know that's not going to happen. I'm still waiting to hear from the mechanic on the bad news. I'll probably call them after lunch if I still haven't heard anything.

"Streaming Media" just got added to the YMCA's list of Websense blocked categories. Launchcast is no more for me (as it is also no more for the Exec as he uses it for musical entertainment as well). It got cut off right in the middle of a song and now I cannot load the launchcast main page.

Soon, I shall no longer have Live Journal, just as many others do not. And soon I shall not have g-chat, which also means I probably won't have email either.

I suddenly have a serious hatred for the world of technology. Internet giveth and corporation meddling taketh away.

PS - if they're going to censor internet radio, then why aren't they also censoring real radio? (This is a rhetorical question, as I already know the answer, I'm just fuming a bit.)

EDIT: Yep, I do believe that the g-chat is blocked as well. I've had the "technical difficulties" box for quite some time and it doesn't seem to be attempting a connect any time soon.

So, apparently my gmail window just needed to be refreshed after the changes in WebSense went into effect.

Gmail still works right and I (at the moment) still have access to g-chat. And all outgoing emails got sent all at once.
