Corporate Hell
Jul. 18th, 2005 11:18 pmI had my first day back at work at the YMCA today. It's only a four hour shift each day, but this first day reminded me quite quickly how much I hate office politics.
Karen, the I-think-I'm-the-alpha-female - stick-my-nose-in-everyone's business - co-worker, has already managed to get her feathers ruffled apparently by nothing else but merely my own presence back at work. Oh well.
I'm having to clean up a mess that has been growing over the past few months after they lost their previous bookkeeper and began summer with no one really taking care of the books. I have attendance sheet to get filed from back in March. My previous boss has at least tried to keep everything up to date, but added to her other responsibilities and being acting director, she had her plate already full. So I'm back to getting things ship-shape before getting that happy bookkeeping place. This means precious Karen will have to actually put up with the requirements of the bookkeeping department, such as filling out a checklist when taking new kid's registration forms. Oh, the horror.
My day managed to start at 10am this morning and didn't end until 9pm this evening. I'm not sure I will be able to keep running a participant after my shift at the YMCA. Morning is ok, but it's a bit of a rush to get done at the Y and then race to get to the lab only to fall asleep while running someone. I have 24 participants' data and need about 30 for my paper that I will be writing next week. I already have 8 more people signed up for this week, so I think I will take down any remaining evening times for myself. Too late, though, for the person signed up for tomorrow night. Damn.
PS - why is the spell check on this thing marking an apostrophe as "'"
