Truth be Told

Dear Teacher:

On both the template paper and the sample paper there is something in the top right corner under the short title and page number. It says "MicNava" and "Mic Acke" respectively. One lines up with the page number and the other is a space off from lining up with the short title. I'm assuming that is supposed to be a shortened form of our name, but I've never seen that on an APA-formatted title page, nor can I find a description or example when I do an online search for "APA title page" via Google.

Is that to be included in our title page, and if so, what is the proper formatting for it and how much of our name is to be included?

Thanks
Nicole

Hi Nicole,

Yes, the short form is your first and last name. MyName would probably be what you want. To be honest, I agree that this may not be 100% apa style, but this is the format that the director of the program want the papers to look like, so that is how the template is set up. The other teachers in the program are asking the same thing of their students. I am glad you asked about this. The next time I speak with the director, I will ask him about why this is necessary. Actually, I have to do something very similar when I submit my shortstories and essays for publication. From an editor's standpoint it makes things much easier, especially if the cover sheet gets separated from the rest of the paper.

Thanks,
Teacher

Forgive me if I want to spit in the face of the dictator director of my program, both for his retarded requests on this paper as well as that $90 thing that he presumes to call a textbook. I won't necessarily spit in the face of my teacher, as she is also writing her own dissertation at the moment and I know is in a tough spot with the director by teaching this class, but I also know that as an English major SHE FUCKING WELL KNOWS BETTER! (See previous rant.)
