Does the Happy Dance!

For two weeks I have been awaiting the response from my UTA graduation counselor and resisting the urge to mention this on LJ until I had full confirmation. I finally received approval to graduate not in May as originally planned, but instead in August. (I will still be eligible to walk the stage in May, since there are no official ceremonies in August. Whether or not I actually physically participate in walking the stage is still up in the air.)
The reason for the change is two-fold. I will be registering for a summer math class which is why the graduation date is pushed back slightly. First, provided that I receive an A in both my current thesis class and the math class, then my GPA will get a small boost back to where it should be. Secondly, I will be able to graduate cum laude.
I blew my chances at summa and magna distinctions with lower than A grades in a couple of recent courses (chalk that to my overwhelming need to procrastinate studies and skip classes), but the additional summer course will secure at least the basic honors distinction, which pleases me to no end. Given the pressure to secure the honors, I refuse to be lazy this semester or the next.
