Sep. 30th, 2007 10:33 pmSo...I'm not being moved to part-time after all. Instead it's worse. After finding out that the YMCA has lost not one but two major grant funding sources, my branch alone is having to accommodate an unexpected ~$80k budget deficit.
I received a two-week notice on Friday. They are keeping the full-time childcare coordinator who assists the salaried childcare director, and so far I haven't heard any news that they are planning to make either of them part-time. All I know is that rather than cutting two full-time staff back to part-time (me and the coordinator) they are just cutting my position all-together. This means the childcare director and coordinator will take over the bookkeeping responsibilities (and I have a whole two weeks to train them - HA).
I could go on a rant about how I really think they are cutting me completely because I'm pointing out too many errors on the part of everyone else and how my non-Christian and non-clique attitude is affecting everything that I touch and therefore I'm the biggest thorn in their side, but what's the use. I'm so sick and tired of that place anyway. I was tired of them before when they offered me the full-time position to begin with. When you accept a dance with the Devil you find that he steps on your toes ... a lot and on purpose.
I wasn't sure what my part-time schedule was going to be, but now I have a very clear idea of what hours I will be available for working. After talking with my school adviser and looking at class offerings for next semester, I also know what hours I will be available then as well, so I can plan pretty far in advance. This will make job hunting a bit easier for me.
At the moment I'm trying to work on my Regression Analysis homework by hand since the UTA computer labs didn't have the SAS program I need installed where it's supposed to be. It's a good thing I've already had a couple of linear algebra based courses. We are now officially into the multivariate part of the class and it requires matrices for solving. It's still a pain not being able to neatly type in half a page of data and have the computer crunch out 10 pages of analysis and graphs for you.
I can't express how much it irks me that I have to go to work tomorrow.
Anyone with job offers or contacts, feel free to throw those my way. I'd really prefer being somewhere that allows me to start programming, but good ol' clerical/secretarial/bookkeeping will be fine as well.

Date: 2007-10-05 09:30 pm (UTC)I just started for a web hosting company in downtown Dallas. Minimal tech skills needed, you could certainly handle it. Pays pretty decent. Oh, and its a 24/7 shop so hours are pretty flexible. Send me a resume if you're interested.
